Dr. Maria Zayas-Bazan, Psy.D. is a highly regarded and respected professional in the field of psychology with 23 years of experience. She is a member of PsiChi, the American Psychological Association’s Honor Society. She completed her Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Hospital and had the great distinction of being elected Chief Fellow. She was also recognized by the University Of Miami Miller School Of Medicine, Kessenich Family ALS Center which is internationally renowned, with a plaque for exemplary dedication to the field of psychology and her clients.
Dr. Maria Zayas-Bazan specializes in Mood Disorders, Behavioral Medicine/Health Psychology (health related issues affecting coping and family), Hypnotherapy, and GLBT issues. She has worked extensively with individuals experiencing difficulty coping with illness and chronic pain and the subsequent emotional stresses that are experienced.
She has been a trainer and presenter for multiple organizations, supervisor, community liaison, and served as the Vice President of Behavioral Health at a local health center providing treatment and assuring compliance with quality standards.
Dr. Maria Zayas-Bazan believes in the strength and power of the therapeutic alliance and tailoring treatment based on individual needs and manifestations of symptoms.
